DIY Party Hats - Kids Birthday Party Activity

No one wants to host a “boring” birthday party. One way to make sure the kids are entertained at your party is by planning a lot of Do-It-Yourself Activities. An easy activity that takes very little effort to organize is to set up a “D.I.Y Party Hats” station.

Things You Will Need

  • Solid color party hats (cone shaped, crowns, tiaras, etc.)
  • Glue
  • Decorations (feathers, sequins, glitter, stickers, pom poms, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, cut-outs, etc.)
  • Markers

Party Activity Set-Up

On party day, set up the party hats on a table with all the decorations and glue. Make a sign (either on your computer or handwritten) that indicates that this is a “D.I.Y.” activity. You can also make a few of your own DIY hats before the party to set up on the table as an example for the kids to follow.

If you have an extra set of hands to help at the party, have that person sit at the table and help the kids make their hats, otherwise most parents are more than happy to sit with their kids and help decorate.

Note: Make sure you to write the name of the child on the party hat either before the activity or after they finish decorating their hat. This way everyone can wear their own creation once it dries.

The best part of a DIY Party Hats activity is that it serves two purposes: (1) it is a fun & easy activity to keep the kids busy and (2) these also double as your party hats – so no need to buy additional hats.

DIY Party Hats - Kids Birthday Party Activity

I recently did this activity for my son’s 3rd Birthday party. The party was at the Jurong Bird Park, so the theme of the hats was “birds”. The completed hats looked super cute and looked great in pictures. I will definitely be doing this activity again in the future.
