It’s no secret that I am not getting any younger and am always on the hunt for the newest aesthetic and beauty treatments to help me age gracefully. Most people have heard about Profhilo, maybe even Sculptra, but what about GOURI? This year I wanted to elevate my skincare regime with GOURI, the injectable biostimulator featuring Polycaprolactone (CPL).

GOURI is a biocompatible collagen-stimulating injectable treatment that was developed in Korea and is approved in Singapore. It’s for individuals who wish to address issues related to skin laxity, fine lines, diminishing collagen, and aging. GOURI is a biodegradable polymer, which means it degrades naturally over time, but it lasts longer compared to hyaluronic acid. It naturally spreads and generates collagen over our entire face, preventing skin aging through deep skin rejuvenation.

GOURI stimulates collagen production naturally and is now my new go-to treatment for:

  • Diminishing fine lines and wrinkles
  • Addressing sagging in the face and jowls
  • Stimulating collagen
  • Restoring skin elasticity and firmness

It anti-ages our skin naturally by restoring the collagen synthesis rate which has decreased due to the aging process, and provides long-lasting, visible improvements to the skin.

Now let me share with you all the details about my GOURI treatment experience so that you can decide if this is something you want to try too!

GOURI Pre-Treatment Consultation

Prior to my treatment, I consulted with Dr. Terence Tan at Halley Medical Aesthetics in Singapore. My primary concern, in addition to my melasma, has always been my sagging face – mostly due to aging, but also genetics.

Super Note: Make sure you do your research and find a knowledgeable doctor with a good technique to do your GOURI treatment – the technique does matter. If you are considering GOURI, make sure you consult with a qualified and trusted doctor to see if you are suitable.

Over the last few years I have done many different procedures with Dr. Tan, ranging from Ultherapy, Coolsculpting, Rejuran, and more, so I knew I could trust his advice. When Dr. Tan explained the details about GOURI, I knew this was the treatment I wanted to try for my skin laxity.

GOURI Treatment – What to Expect

Gouri is a fairly quick procedure and can be done on an extended lunch break.

Your face will first be cleansed; then a layer of numbing cream will be applied to your skin. After 15 to 30 minutes, the numbing cream will be removed. The doctor will then take “before” pictures with his camera prior-to the treatment.

White markings using a special pen, are made by the doctor on your face to indicate where the GOURI will be injected and how it will spread.

A cannula is used to uniformly administer GOURI just below the skin. The procedure is minimally invasive

Super Note: The actual injection points will vary based on each individual and the doctor’s technique. For my first two GOURI treatments, a cannula was used, and I only had 2 injection points, however for the third treatment we focused on different concerns (my under eye and lower jaw), so Dr. Tan used a cannula with 4 injection points.

The entire GOURI procedure (not counting numbing and cleansing) took about 15 to 20 minutes. This included the time to open the GOURI box and prepare the injectable.

GOURI Post-Procedure / Downtime

After the GOURI procedure, you may notice small bumps over the injection points, but these will subside over the next few days. My bumps only lasted a few hours and then disappeared. Needle marks, mild redness, swelling, and bruises may occur, but again this depends on each individual. These issues (if any) will resolve on their own and can be easily concealed with makeup.

Super Note: A few days before and the day after doing the GOURI procedure you should avoid certain supplements, aspirin, painkillers and avoid alcohol consumption. In case you are worried about bruising or swelling, there are certain supplements you can take before the treatment. I don’t want to give any medical advice, so just ask your doctor during the consultation or Google it to find out more.

How many treatments of GOURI do you need?

If this is your first time doing GOURI, you should do three treatments, approximately one month apart. Then to maintain the effects do half-yearly treatments. The effects usually last up to 12 months and since it is a biodegradable polymer, GOURI will break down naturally over time

When will you see results?

Results are generally seen about 1 to 2 months after the GOURI treatment and lasts up to a year. I started seeing results after my second treatment – my cheekbones seemed more lifted and my under-eye hollows more filled. It’s hard to see in the pictures, but you could really tell if you saw me in person.

How much does GOURI cost?

At Halley Medical Aesthetics, the cost is $780 per 1ml GOURI syringe (not including GST). I used 2ml for my treatment. Here is a link to the price list, so you can decide for yourself.

SuperMommy’s Final Thoughts

GOURI is definitely a game-changer for aging skin. I found the procedure to be painless and the downtime minimal. As for the results, I have seen a difference, so YES, I will be doing GOURI again.
