My friends and I decided to check out “Open Farm Community” for a ladies lunch outing. We decided were in the mood for a “healthy” lunch and wanted to check this place out. Here are all the details.
Address & Location: 130 Minden Road, 248819 (at the start of Dempsey Hill – right before Jim Thompson), Telephone: 6471-0306.
Parking: Yes, free outdoor parking is available
Reservations: The restaurant was 2/3rds full on a weekday for lunch. I do recommend getting a reservation before you head over, especially during peak hours – www.openfarmcommunity.com .
Atmosphere: Casual. Very green & airy feeling. There is a lot of greenery and a fresh herb garden surrounding the restaurant
Tables: Both indoor and outdoor seating is available.
There is also a casual coffee/juice bar and a separate outdoor dining area.
How does the food taste? The food overall (by unanimous consent of 5 ladies) was very good – it had a nice taste and we could really taste all the fresh ingredients. The portion sizes are suitable for one person (not big enough for sharing).
Average Cost: On average $50+ per person (depending on your drinks & desserts). We did not have any wine or drinks, just coffee/tea at the end of the meal. The main courses on the menu ranged from $25 to $36, appetizers from $19 – $28 and desserts start at $18.
Is there a Lunch Promotion? Yes, there is a lunch menu available starting at $35++ to $52++ depending on the amount of course you choose. The lunch menu, “Lunch with the Locals” has completely different food and dessert options than the main menu.
Is it Child Friendly? Open Farm Community has a “little diners” section in the menu that offers a few child friendly options such as: Caesar salad, lasagne, strozzapreti & fish pie. However the prices are not that child friendly and range from $17 – $23 for an entree (no drink, dessert or sides included). A child portion of ice-cream is $16. Kids are able to play in the little outdoor playground and/or have walk through the herb garden.
Here is a look at what we ordered:
The warm broccoli salad was our favorite item from everthing we ordered. We ordered two portions to share and we still felt we could have had more. If you like veggies, this is a must try.
The cesar salad was ordered off the child’s menu ($17) and in order to upgrade to an adult portion we paid an extra $8.50, so the total for the salad was $26.50. The picture above is of the salad is the full portion served. We still are not sure why half the plate is empty. It totally was not worth it and a huge disappointment.
Lemon Tart with Sweet Basil ($18)
Both desserts were very yummy (the lemon tart more so than the mango), however again a bit surprised that the dessert ($18 each) cost more than PS. Cafe, but nonetheless we would still order it again since we don’t go there all the time.
SuperMommy’s Overall Opinion:
The food tasted delicious and fresh at Open Farm Community. The restaurant atmosphere was perfect for a ladies casual lunch (not so much if you have a picky child eater). I will definitely be going there again, maybe next time for dinner to try some of the main entrees.
Please feel free to leave a comment or any useful information below about your own dining experience at Open Farm Community. 🙂
Happy Healthy Eating!!

Hello,
I would like to pick up a voucher as a gift to a nice couple with a 18 months old baby.
Can you advise if Open farm or any child friendly restaurant do sell ? If so what is the denomination / value.
